ON 9 OCTOBER 2018, the Prime Minister, the Minister for Health, and the Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care announced the establishment of a Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
The Honourable Justice Joseph McGrath and Ms Lynelle Briggs AO have been appointed Commissioners. Justice McGrath is a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Ms Briggs is a former CEO of Medicare Australia and a former Australian Public Service Commissioner.
It is proposed that the Royal Commission will provide an interim report by 31 October 2019, and its final report by 30 April 2020.
The Commission’s terms of reference are included in the Letters Patent
The separate website for the Royal Commission will soon be established. The Royal Commission will provide information about how the public can engage with the Royal Commission, including how submissions can be made, and when and where hearings will be held.
